Sure, we have our subscriptions and trusted suppliers, but if you’re anything like us (and we suspect that you are), there will be the odd moment of weakness in a supermarket when something simply grabs your eye and you find yourself reaching for a few bottles…

Araldica Barbera d’Asti 2014, Piedmont, Italy – currently £6.99 at Waitrose

Reviewing this delicious and very afforable wine (on offer until June 5th!) for The Telegraph, Susy Atkins described it as “a sophisticated Italian red for the price, with soft, fresh raspberry and redcurrant tones – just right for a mushroom risotto”. Winning Bronze at the 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards along with Silver in the same year at the International Wine Challenge, we would recommend stocking up on a few bottles!
